Numb.

A friend’s baby died at birth early Friday morning. The brevity of life is never as close to the forefront of my mind as it is after I hear news like that. It is all so very sad.

A fellow foster-adopt parent said it well yesterday when she said that these kids are all God’s, whether we give birth to them, foster them, or adopt them. She’s right. They have never been promised to us permanently, and it is all merely an illusion. So we’re hugging our little ones closer–even through a stomach virus that has ravaged our house the past few days–and remembering that even when we can no longer care for the children we love, He can.
